Second Thoughts

Na, so was gibt's auch.

Are sometimes pretty essential, like, that I already know people who said they will join the league, when it starts! Yay, but I just got the idea that it would be so much cooler to work towards the goal ... together!
Any help, ideas, suggestions, beers together will help:)
Shoot me an EMAIL!

First movement

I was thinking about starting a league before I moved to Buxtehude. Now I am here...3 Months later and nothing has happened. Not really.

I first got in contact with the nearest Roller Derby league the Hamburg Harbour Girls. Spiky, the league's co-founder has been a treasure box of knowledge about the German way of things and helped me remembering a lot of things I forgot.
I went to their last friendly bout which was the glorious final of a workshop day and got a boost of Derby Love.

Last week I have contacted a Figure Skating Club near by TuS Harsefeld and asked about the possibility to rent the venue for training purposes. No answer so far but their venue is an ice skating rink during the winter months...they might just be in hibernation.

I also contacted the local sports club BSV Buxtehude. Apart from the German Club system being exceptionally democratic and well organised this particular one is looking for 'new sports' to incorporate into their Club! PERFECT!
Roller Derby is one of the fastest growing sports at the moment, for females but a few males are quite alright ;) and I want to start a league!
So I contacted them and Jürgen, the one who's organising new clubs within the club called me merely 12 hours later! Wow, I think he is keen :)
So this week I met him and was able to skate a few demos for him to check weather my equipment leaves any marks on the sports court surface .... not really! Even though I prepared for the worst case scenario and was ready to tape or cover my pads with fabric and have the whole league skate with rubber toe stops. Not necessary.
Unfortunately the school administration has the last word wether we are allowed to skate in their sports halls or not .... waiting for response now.
